The history of the City of Bremerton and USS BREMERTON are intertwined like flowing waters. For more than 40 years, USS BREMERTON plied the waters of the world, returning home to Bremerton on occasion to be readied for its next mission. The City of Bremerton celebrated every ship and submarine flowing through Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for the betterment of our community and our country.
We are dedicated to preserving the sail of SSN-698 as a permanent monument at the gateway to the city of Bremerton.
Class: Los Angeles-class Submarine Service: 1981β2021 (40 Years) Note: Longest-serving attack sub in U.S. history, known as the βBadfish.β
Class: Baltimore-class Heavy Cruiser Service: 1945β1960 Note: Earned two battle stars during the Korean War for shelling enemy lines.
The Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council of the U.S. Navy League has embarked on a project to preserve the submarine’s sail. In coordination with the city, we are proposing to build the monument at Navy League Park (First Street and Callow Avenue).
We need your help to construct this tribute. Leave your legacy by purchasing an engraved brick or making a donation to our cause.
